Yü Group plc (LON:YU) is the topic of conversation when Co Fund Manager Gervais Williams of Premier Miton Investors caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss the UK listed market and some of his holdings in Miton UK MicroCap Trust plc.
Gervais Williams commented, “the largest holding in the portfolio at the moment is definitely worth a mention, Yü Group plc. This is a company which is kind of an operator of electricity supply so it’s a company which has, for many years, been investing in supplying electricity to corporate markets. This is a very tough market, you can imagine with electricity prices moving around so much and gas prices too. They supply gas as well.
It’s a business where it’s invested hard, it’s generating very large amounts of cash and it’s been trading above expectations. Its share price has risen, it was as low as £2 about 1.5 years ago and as low as below £1, three or four years ago, it’s now around £6.
Most particularly, we think it’s still very overlooked and so from that point of view, we’re in a period where we are looking for these kinds of stocks. This one has probably already succeeded to some degree, it’s share price has always risen but it’s in a position where it’s actually still very overlooked.
That’s the nature of the market, it’s these kinds of companies around which are just astonishing really that they’re so lowly rated – that’s the nature of where we are!
So, Yü Group is perhaps a little further up in terms of the opportunity, and in terms of generating the return, but we think there’s many others within the Miton UK MicroCap Trust portfolio that have that kind of opportunity.”
