Chelsea manager Graham Potter has downplayed any reports of a rift between new teammates Mykhailo Mudryk and Marc Cucurella. Following a 1-1 draw at West Ham United, an Instagram post suggested that Mudryk and Cucurella were not on the same page. Potter insists that the two are simply still getting used to each other and that there is ‘nothing sinister’ between them.
The Ukrainian winger had run into space during the second-half, but Cucurella chose to turn inside and play a simple pass to Enzo Fernandez instead. Potter explained that this is simply a case of understanding each other’s style and recognising the context of the game.
The Spaniard also received criticism from Chelsea fans during the match, but Potter says they are simply entitled to their opinion and that Cucurella has not become a bad player overnight. He also revealed that there had been interest in Cucurella from other Premier League clubs in the summer. Potter urged for fans to stick together and help the player through this difficult period.
