The Sun readers and This Morning viewers may have seen the story around a mother who had cannabis oil seized at Heathrow, saying her epileptic son, 12, has suffered a seizure without it.
Charlotte Caldwell spoke on This Morning to say he had his first seizure in 300 days after missing his dose of medicine. She was stopped as she travelled back home to Northern Ireland after making a trip to Canada to get the “life-saving” oil for Billy.
We spoke to Geremy Thomas, CEO of Sativa Investments PLC (NEX:SATI), the UK’s only medicinal cannabis investment vehicle, for his thoughts on the news:
“It’s ridiculous that a mother has had her son’s medication confiscated on entering the UK when the therapy is approved and legal in much of the civilised world. There is mounting public pressure for the Government to align the country’s medicinal cannabis laws with reality.Sativa has already made moves and solid investments in the sector and is well-placed to take advantage of the rapidly growing global medicinal cannabis industry.”
