Sam Smith, the multi-award-winning artist and trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community, recently made an appearance on The One Show where they shared their life-long dream of becoming a ‘fisher-them’. When asked by hosts Ronan Keating and Alex Jones about their love for fishing, Sam replied “I’d love to be a fisher-them. I’d be any type of fisher-them… I think I would like to, one day, I’d just like to end my days fishing. Like sitting on a bank.”
The revelation comes after Sam recently slayed with an epic Brit Awards performance of their song ‘Unholy’. Despite being met with praise and admiration on social media, some were not so impressed – Piers Morgan responded “Sam Smith needs to shut up”. However, many were quick to come to Sam’s defence.
The Brit Awards performance was then hit with more than 100 Ofcom complaints – many revolving around the performance Sam put on. The rest of the complaints related to the use of offensive language during the ceremony and the amount of alcohol consumed at the event.
It is clear that Sam Smith is a true trailblazer, inspiring many while paving the way for a more inclusive world.
