Saga plc (LON:SAGA), the UK’s specialist in products and services for life after 50, is pleased today announced the appointment of Julie Hopes as Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 October 2018. Bridget McIntyre will retire from the Board of Directors of Saga plc on 31 October 2018 while continuing in her role as Chair and Non-Executive Director of Saga Services Limited.
Julie has extensive experience of insurance with over 20 years in a variety of roles, mostly at RSA and then Tesco Bank, specialising in general insurance and predominantly in personal lines. She is highly customer-focused, with a breadth of functional, membership and affinity experience and a track record of driving growth.
She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Co-Operative Insurance, where she chairs the Risk Committee and is a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees. As Co-Operative Insurance operates predominantly within the personal lines segment of the Motor and Home insurance market, she will step down from these roles at the end of November 2018.
She is also a Non-Executive Director of both Police Mutual, where she chairs the Remuneration Committee and is a member of the Risk, Nominations and With Profits Committees, and West Bromwich Building Society, where she is a member of the Risk, Nominations and Remuneration Committees. Most recently, she was CEO of The Conservation Volunteers (2012 to 2016), a British not-for-profit organisation that focuses on community resilience by improving people’s health and employment prospects, through practical tasks undertaken by volunteers. Julie is an associate with the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Patrick O’Sullivan, Chairman, said:
“We are delighted that Julie will be joining the Board of Saga. Her extensive insurance experience will be invaluable as we continue to develop this key part of our business. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bridget for her valuable contribution to the plc Board.”
Julie does not currently have any interest in shares in Saga Plc.
