Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart believes his old club needs a creative player in its ranks and has identified Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech as the ideal signing. Van der Vaart believes Spurs’ lack of a creative player puts too much pressure on Harry Kane, who is forced to drop deep to create opportunities for his teammates.
The Dutchman believes Ziyech is the perfect fit for Spurs and would help alleviate the burden on Kane. Currently, Ziyech is not enjoying his time at Chelsea, having failed to make an impact this season with just one assist in 12 Premier League appearances.
Van der Vaart told Ladbrokes: Fanzone: “They’re missing something in that number 10 area, and I think the answer is Hakim Ziyech. He’s not happy at Chelsea, and I’m a big fan of his. If Tottenham were to bring him in, their problems are solved; I really don’t think they need much more.”
Chelsea manager Graham Potter is still hopeful that Ziyech can have an impact at the club this season, however, insisting he is committed to the team. Whether or not Spurs make a move for the Moroccan remains to be seen, but it is clear that Van der Vaart believes he would be the perfect solution to their problems.
