Today, Louis Vuitton has announced the appointment of music icon Pharrell Williams as the new Men’s Creative Director. Pharrell takes on the role that was previously held by the late Virgil Abloh.

Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, Pietro Beccari, welcomed the 49-year-old producer to the prestige fashion family and praised his past collaborations with the brand.

Pharrell’s first collection with LV is expected to debut during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris next June.

The producer has collaborated with some of the biggest names in fashion, including Adidas and Chanel. He is also well known for producing hit songs such as ‘Happy’ and ‘Blurred Lines’.

Upon news of Abloh’s death, Williams posted a heartfelt tribute on Twitter: “My heart is broken Virgil you were a kind, generous, thoughtful creative genius your work as a human and your work as a spiritual being will live forever. Sending love and light to your wife, children, family and day ones you’re with the Master now, shine.”

A statement released on social media reads: “Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be revealed next June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years.”

Virgil Abloh passed away in November 2021 after privately battling cancer for two years. His loved ones wrote a lengthy tribute on his Instagram page: “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.”

Pharrell Williams is sure to bring his signature energy and style to Louis Vuitton as the brand’s new Men’s Creative Director. We look forward to seeing his first collection debut next June!
