Neymar is set to spearhead Paris Saint-Germain’s forward line against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League tomorrow. The Ligue 1 champions have had a difficult period recently, with a loss to Monaco and a 3-1 defeat against Marseille making them five points clear at the top of the table.
This difficult period has reportedly caused tensions between Neymar and PSG sporting director Luis Campos, with both engaging in a heated discussion after the Monaco defeat. Neymar spoke ahead of the Champions League fixture, confirming the dispute but saying that it is all part of the game.
“Yes there was a discussion, we didn’t agree with what we heard,” Neymar said. “But these things happen. Football isn’t just about love and friendship. It’s true that our recent performances haven’t been very good. Of course it’s unsettling when there are defeats.”
He went on to compare it to an argument with his girlfriend, saying that straight talking is necessary. Neymar was also disappointed that news of the dispute was leaked, saying “It’s not normal that everything that happens comes out of the dressing room, it should stay between us.”
Despite the recent struggles, Neymar is confident that PSG will be able to put their best foot forward against Bayern Munich. “We know that we have some weaknesses, but I’m sure we’ll see the best of PSG tomorrow,” he said.
