Microsaic Systems plc (LON:MSYS), has noted the update by DeepVerge plc (LON:DVRG) provided today regarding their orders for pathogen monitoring equipment for shipment this year to partners and customers in UK, India and China,  which includes upgrades to DeepVerge Modern Water Microtox® PD1 units and Microsaic mass spectrometer units.  Configurations of the Microsaic equipment will be included in these orders to DeepVerge for the integrated detection of PFASs (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances or ‘forever chemicals’), as referenced in previous Microsaic announcements on 25 May and 23 August, 2021.  This monitoring capability forms part of broader integrated solutions offered by DeepVerge for monitoring toxicity and heavy metal pollutants as well as the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 as part of the ongoing pandemic response.

Glenn Tracey, CEO of Microsaic Systems commented:

“We are greatly encouraged to see the results of our collaboration with DeepVerge translating into early demand for Microsaic mass spectrometer units as part of a new point-of-need monitoring solution, providing the capability for real-time monitoring of PFASs or ‘Forever Chemicals’. In addition, working with DeepVerge teams in York, UK and Cork, Ireland we can already see an important contribution being made in the use of our micro-engineering expertise in ongoing development and upgrading of DeepVerge Modern Water equipment, especially in the integrated approach to Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) between our technologies.

“While small in terms of initial impact for Microsaic, we see these initial shipments as having the potential to seed further demand in key locations, particularly in India and China over time. The power of these surveillance solutions  lies in their multi-tiered approach to environmental monitoring and control, from pandemic response (pathogen detection) to toxicity and chemicals of concern, and in their ability to monitor data on an ongoing basis, recognising early threats and indicative patterns using AI.”

Microsaic notes that DeepVerge is a related party under the AIM Rules for Companies and its independent directors will review the details of any order(s) received from DeepVerge for its equipment when further details are made available in due course.

1     Microtox® PD has been designed to be retrofitted into existing Modern Water equipment to detect and identify a range of infectious viruses and bacteria including SARS-CoV-2, E.coli, Legionella and Cryptosporidium, on a single chip, using AI, in real-time
