Live Company Group PLC (LON:LVCG) Executive Chairman David Ciclitira caught up with DirectorsTalk for an exclusive interview to discuss the launch of the BRICKLIVE ASEAN Tour
Q1: David, another busy week for Live Company Group, can you tell us a bit about what’s launching in Jakarta today?
A1: This is the first even of the ASEAN Tour and it’s basically launching in PIK Avenue which is a brand new shopping centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. Yesterday, we had a media day where we had over 200 media tv crews, newspapers, bloggers and tons of kids. It’s on 2 floors as you come into the show, basically it’s got this amazing ground floor where you can see the show from everywhere in the shopping centre and there’s a second floor, my staff on site described it as rather cool.
There are basically four specially commission models for the ASEAN Tour, we’ve got a tuk tuk to represent Bangkok, because we’re going on to Bangkok, Petronas Towers built in LEGO to represent Malaysia, and the Merlion which is the symbol of Singapore, so this is a 4 city tour.
Q2: How long is the show running for?
A2: The show is actually running for 10 days. Its promotor, our partner, is a company called BEC-Tero, they’re a Thai-based company but they are quite a big media player in the region, they are Live Nation’s partner in Thailand and they are business partners, they do Disney on Ice and have done for the last 26 years and they basically have a significant business in the region.
We’ve got a series of local sponsors involved which is good so it’s a very exciting for us because, you’ll remember when we spoke, 10 days ago we were launching in Buenos Aires which is one end of the globe and here the other end of the globe is in Indonesia which is obviously fantastic achievements. So, we’re very proud, the show goes from the 7th-17th June so it’s a 10 day show.
Q3: How is the show different to other BRICKLIVE events?
A3: All BRICKLIVE events have the same components, they have the Minecraft bricks, the Star Wars bricks, brick pits, statues and models. The company, because it does so many events, they’ve added lots of new components to it, so they’ve got a lot of inflatables and things like that which are non-LEGO specific, but they obviously add to the event, if you go online, if you go to bricklivegroup.com, you’ll see a load of images of the show.
As I said, all of our shows are a simple brand model, they are basically licenced out with our partners, so I think the joy of BRICKLIVE is pretty much the same wherever you go but obviously it has a local component added to it.
Q4: You mentioned one of the partners earlier but who are the partners who are involved in this show?
A4: The actual physical partner is BEC-Tero and obviously they have a local partner which is the venue owner which is a company called Sedayu and then there are, I think they’re mentioned in the release that you got, there is local sponsors.
So, it’s a well prepared show, we’ve been working on this for 6 months to start the ASEAN Tour and as I said, the tour goes on to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur and from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.
