Lighthouse Group plc (LON: LGT), the national financial adviser of choice for Middle Britain, today announced that it has agreed the renewal of its contract with the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union as the preferred provider of expert financial advice to its members, encompassing retirement planning, mortgages and investments, for a further three years from 1 September 2018.

The Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union (BFAWU) is the only independent Trade Union operating within the food industry and has been representing workers in the Food industry and allied trades since 1847. BFAWU currently represents around 17,000 members.

This contract renewal underlines Lighthouse’s already impressive list of affinity partnerships, which includes major employee organisations such as UNISON, BA Clubs, Fire Brigades Union and Prospect, further highlighting Lighthouse’s capacity to deliver financial planning solutions to a diverse and substantial audience.

Ronnie Draper General Secretary of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union (BFAWU) commented: “We are delighted to have secured this contract renewal with Lighthouse, which will enable us to continue to ensure that our members are able to access financial planning assistance from a reliable and well reputed organisation, on a truly national basis. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with Lighthouse and ensuring that our members are able to secure quality service and consistent professional financial advice”.

Malcolm Streatfield, Chief Executive Officer of Lighthouse commented: “The Board is very pleased that we have secured this contract renewal with the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union (BFAWU), which provides further endorsement of the quality of service and financial planning support which Lighthouse Financial Advice provides to all participating members of our affinity group partners. We very much look forward to progressing further our relationship with BFAWU over the years ahead. The Board remains committed to developing further our affinity partnerships throughout the UK”.
