Guild Esports plc (LON:GILD), a global team organisation and lifestyle brand, has announced that it has partnered with Sony’s PlayStation to create a FIFA22 tournament, ‘The Guild Academy Challenge’.
The event takes place on 13-15 December and is open for participation to all PlayStation 4 FIFA22 players across Europe through the PlayStation online gaming network.
Guild is the first UK-listed esports organisation chosen by PlayStation as a partner for a tournament of this kind and will give all entrants exclusive access to Guild’s online Academy for six months. The winner of the tournament will be given the opportunity to meet Guild’s professional players, receive professional online training sessions and win a PlayStation 5. Players taking part in the tournament will also be able to compete to win exclusive prizes from Guild and PlayStation.
Kal Hourd, chief executive of Guild Esports, said: “We are delighted to be chosen by PlayStation to create a new tournament which builds on the success of previous years’ FIFA tournaments which attract thousands of entries each year. By connecting Guild with PlayStation, we expect to attract a significant number of students to our Guild Academy to support their growth and development.
“The FIFA franchise is a key part of our growth strategy and this tournament complements the investment we have made in our FIFA esports team, enabling Guild to leverage the game’s vast and growing worldwide fanbase.”
