Ferrexpo plc (LON:FXPO) has today announced the appointment of James (Jim) North as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Ferrexpo as of the conclusion of the AGM to be held on 28 May 2020. Jim will combine his role as Chief Operating Officer with the Acting CEO position. He will not join the Board but will be invited to attend all Board meetings. Chris Mawe has been asked to return to his previous role as Chief Financial Officer.
Jim, as COO, has a strong focus on operational matters which will allow the Group to increase its attention on the future growth of the business, subject to market conditions and cash flow generation. Jim has also been and will continue to be responsible for the important development of an enhanced HSE culture for the Group, including ensuring the safety and well-being of all of our people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jim joined Ferrexpo in November 2014 and since then he has successfully managed the Company’s operations and introduced world class operating practices. Previously, Jim was Chief Operating Officer of London Mining plc, where he was accountable for setting the company’s operational and investment strategy around the world. Prior to this, he held a variety of senior operational management roles with Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Mount Isa Mines in Africa, South America and Australia. During this time, he focused on general management, project development and operations improvement and turnaround, across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Coal, Base Metals and Aluminium.
