Nintendo has seemingly confirmed the existence of a new Zelda themed Switch OLED model that was recently leaked online. Images of the console’s box and Joy-Con controllers were shared and featured artwork that had never been seen before. This same artwork has now been replicated on the collector’s edition pin case, which contains a symbol that matches exactly to that seen on the leaked Joy-Con controllers. This suggests either the leaker was able to get their hands on the new OLED model ahead of time or Nintendo planned to launch it anyway.
This wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo has released an OLED model to tie-in with major releases. Last year, they did so for Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, so it stands to reason they would do the same for The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom.
The next question is when Nintendo will formally announce the new Switch model. It could be through another Nintendo Direct, or it could be shadow dropped with no build-up, as Nintendo have done in the past. Alternatively, the new Switch could have been planned but then cancelled due to component supply issues.
The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom launches on May 12 for Nintendo Switch. It will be interesting to see if Nintendo will use their upcoming releases as an opportunity to announce the new Zelda themed Switch.
