Tracy-Ann Oberman recently teased a return to EastEnders as Chrissie Watts, the villainous wife of legendary soap character ‘Dirty’ Den Watts. Oberman appeared in the show between 2004 and 2005, playing 218 episodes which included her uncovering her husband’s affairs and a plan to bankrupt the Mitchells. She ultimately killed Den in a pub fight and was sent to prison for murder. Appearing on Lorraine, Oberman said it was possible she could return to Albert Square: “Never say never”.
Chrissie Watts was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her husband, but as Oberman pointed out on the show, she has already served more time than many actual murderers. With new EastEnders producer Chris Clenshaw being asked by Oberman herself to give her a follow last year, the possibility of Chrissie making it out on parole is certainly on the cards. Fans have been speculating about a potential return since Sam Mitchell, who featured heavily in the Den storyline, came back to the show last year.
Whether we’ll see Chrissie Watts back in Albert Square remains to be seen. In the meantime, if you’ve got a soap or TV story, video or pictures get in touch by emailing us [email protected] – we’d love to hear from you!
