Antofagasta plc (LON:ANTO), a global leader in the mining industry, has announced the release of its second Climate Change Report, underscoring the Company’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
In line with Antofagasta’s dedication to transparency and accountability, the report published today provides a detailed overview of the Company’s efforts and progress made to date in addressing climate change and reducing its environmental footprint. The report also includes the Company’s inaugural summary of its Scope 3 emissions, which follows a two-year process to improve the understanding of the emissions that relate to activities in the Company’s value chain.
Antofagasta’s CEO, Iván Arriagada said: “As a society, we are at a turning point in which it is imperative to make changes that allow us to address climate change. Copper plays an essential role in the solution to this challenge, since it is a key metal for the production of low-carbon technologies that are necessary for the energy transition and climate change mitigation.
“As a copper producer, we recognise the importance of sustainability and responsible business practices in producing the copper that is needed to make carbon neutrality possible.”
