Antofagasta appoints Heather Lawrence as an Independent Non-Executive Director

Antofagasta plc (LON:ANTO) has announced that the Board of the Company has appointed Heather Lawrence as an Independent Non-Executive Director and member of the Company’s Audit and Risk Committee with effect from today.

Ms Lawrence is a qualified chartered accountant and has spent well over a decade working in senior roles within corporate finance and investment banking, with particular experience across industrial and transportation businesses.

Ms Lawrence has significant non-executive directorship experience.  She is currently a non-executive director and the audit committee chair of Melrose Industries plc. Previously, she has been a non-executive director of Coats Group plc and a non-executive director and the audit committee chair of FlyBe Group plc.

Mr Jean-Paul Luksic, Chairman of Antofagasta said today: “Following a comprehensive externally-facilitated search process, we are delighted that Heather has accepted our invitation to join the Board. Her international background and recent and relevant financial experience will be of great benefit to the Company in the years ahead.”

For the purposes of the UK Corporate Governance Code, Ms Lawrence is considered by the Board to be independent. Save as disclosed above, there are no further disclosures required under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of Ms Lawrence.
